The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF685 24-inch large format printer builds on Canon’s award winning line of 5-color printers, and provides enhancements in both hardware, and software capabilities. The iPF685 device is capable of producing an Arch D (24” x 36”) print in up to 21 seconds using Economy mode! The printer has the capability of accommodating 300ml ink tanks, geared towards lowering the cost per print. The included Sub-ink tank system allows for users to use all of the ink in the tank before replacing, while also replacing the empty ink tanks on-the-fly without having to stop a job mid-print and sacrifice print quality. For increased productivity, the iPF685 printer comes with a 320GB hard drive built in, allowing for enhanced file processing, personal mailbox space, and job storage of up to 500 print jobs!
From a software perspective, the iPF685 printer comes loaded with user-friendly software solutions that are ready to be used right out of the box. Direct Print & Share, Canon’s cloud-based portal solution*, is available as a download and allows for files to be uploaded, downloaded, shared and printed from almost anywhere in the world! Also downloadable is a mobile printing app, imagePROGRAF Print Utility^, which allows for PDFs to be printed through use of an Apple© iPad©. The Accounting Manager software allows users to track job costs, while the Print Plug-in for Microsoft Office enables for documents created with Word, Excel or Powerpoint to be printed in large format. And to improve versatility, the iPF685 printer has a Media Configuration Tool which allows customers to optimally utilize their Canon-branded media in creating their desired output.
Dye/Pigment Reactive Ink Set
The 5-Color ink set found in the imagePROGRAF iPF685 printer is ideal for technical applications. This ink technology utilizes four highly colorfast dye inks for producing bold, expressive color, plus a channel of pigment matte black ink for printing precise lines, smooth curves and small text on technical and office documents. Also included is a newly formulated magenta ink that helps produce a wider color gamut in the red and orange spectrums, compared to previous models. These Canon inks provide superb adhesion to media, scratch and marker resistance and help ensure minimal “bleeding” between colors and text. Even small text printed on colored backgrounds or on uncoated technical papers is crisp and legible.
High Speed Printing
The imagePROGRAF iPF685 printer has the ability to output a D (24” x 36”) sized drawing in Economy mode in approximately 25 seconds! When you need to keep projects moving forward and meet deadlines, this kind of speed is critical. Powering these incredible print speeds is Canon’s L-COA (Large Format Printer COmmon Architecture) print controller, driving the imagePROGRAF print engine to lay down ink with exceptional speed and precision. This high-speed processor enables the print system to process large volumes of data while optimizing output of complex high-color GIS images and architectural renderings for maximum readability and color accuracy.
320GB Internal Hard Drive
The iPF685 printer has a large 320GB hard drive built right into the printer, ideal for workgroups who need to print large files or sets of files from multiple workstations. The hard drive has 32GB dedicated to file processing memory. This gives multiple users the ability to share use of the printer, and allows print jobs to be saved for easy reprinting, helping to simplify the workflow. This hard drive is engineered for enhanced processing of large and complex files such as 3D and GIS drawings, advanced error recovery, and the ability to track file and printing information on up to 500 jobs.
Large Capacity Ink Tanks
The iPF685 printer supports ink tank sizes of 300ml, along with the available 130ml tanks, with the former helping to lower the ink cost per print. Tanks can also be mixed and matched based on user preference.
Sub-ink Tank System
Canon’s unique sub-ink tank system allows for users to use all of the ink that’s available in a tank before having to replace it, helping eliminate any wasted ink. The empty tanks can also be replaced on-the-fly without stopping the printer. This is extremely useful during long print jobs.
Economy Print Mode
Helps reduce total ink consumption when utilizing the Economy Print Mode by producing draft prints on select media. This feature regulates the use of all inks to produce quick check plots to help minimize the cost per print.
Flat Stacker/Basket
The integrated stacker/basket provides the capability to neatly stack up to twenty Arch D plain paper prints. The stacker basket can be configured as a regular basket, a small stacker or a larger flat-positioned basket.
